Religious School

At Congregation Shearith Israel’s Machaneh Shai (Hebrew for “Camp Shearith Israel”), our students benefit from the best practices and leading-edge research in the field of Jewish education, making learning a rich, engaging educational experience for children from kindergarten through high school.

It’s a totally different kind of religious school, emphasizing experiential education, personal religious development, and whole family learning. Machaneh Shai provides fun, hands-on, and engaging ways to learn about Jewish traditions, prayers, Torah, Israel, and Jewish history.

The educational programs at Shearith Israel serve to develop the creativity, character, Jewish literacy and spiritual life of our students and encourage them to live deeply within the values of Judaism.

Machaneh Shai serves students in Grades K – 7 and their families.

Synagogue Membership Not Required: Because some families may not be ready to commit to joining a synagogue, Shearith Israel offers the option for parents to enroll their children at Machaneh Shai for two years and pay for only their Jewish education – while receiving all the perks of synagogue membership. For details, please contact the office.
