Support for a ukrainian refugee Family IN ATLANTA

The U.S. has begun to open its borders and thousands of refugees from Ukraine have made their way to Atlanta. The effort is being coordinated by Jewish Family & Career Services, supported by funding from Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta.

Shearith Israel is proud to be sponsoring a Ukrainian family. They are a family of 4 who fled their war-torn city of Chernivtsi and recently arrived in the Atlanta area on March 23. They arrived through the Southern border on a Humanitarian Parolee Stamp and are currently living with a host family in Lawrenceville. They can get Work Authorization Cards, which will allow them to stay in the U.S. for 18 months.

Our sponsored family is doing well! They are settling into their new home (which fortunately has a new A/C!). Your continued donations since the move-in have allowed CSI to assist with filling gaps in kitchen essentials, clothing, bedding, wall art, etc. AND with helping to pay for utilities. They have even gotten a new washer/dryer, courtesy of Federation and JF&CS.

We look forward to your continued support

We are now turning our focus to assisting them with English tutoring, social engagements, appointment/driving assistance and more. Tutoring is especially critical to help the two girls with their transition into an American school in August. Join us now by signing up below.

Strength through community

These efforts bring together many of our Shearith Israel For Good programs and volunteers including our experience and passion around supporting refugees, immigrants and asylum-seekers, our Chesed work supporting members of our community through challenging times, our work to fight food insecurity through Backpack Buddies and our collaboration with Intown Community Church through the One America Movement.
