The Jewish year 5783 has seen some important steps forward in gender egalitarianism at Shearith Israel.  At the beginning of Sukkot this year, in a first for Shearith Israel women, daughters of Kohanim and Levi'im, participated in the priestly blessing ritual.  And, in December, Rabbi Kaiman ruled that non-binary language is permitted when calling honorees to Torah honors. Read more about these exciting changes in our community in the recent post on the Religious Life Committee Blog.
