Purim Shpiel
Sunday, March 24, 2024 • 14 Adar II 5784
12:00 PM - 1:00 PMWe're excited for an unforgettable Purim shpiel this year, written by new member and acclaimed playwright Ali Viterbi and directed by Nancy Gorod. Come for an open audition to join the cast, learn about this year's shpiel, and get the rehearsal schedule. Nancy is also looking for an Assistant Director. All you need is your ruach (good-spirited energy) and a desire for a good time.
The shpiel will take place on Sunday, March 24th at 12 pm and it will be a musical journey back in time as we celebrate CSI's 120-year anniversary!
But what is a shpiel, you ask? Shpiel is a Yiddish word meaning a “play” or “skit.” It is usually boisterously fun and lampoons either the Purim story characters or people in the community. Shearith Israel has a rich history of Shpiels, and 2024 will continue on this path.
Rehearsals for the Purim shpiel will be held on February 18th (4 pm), February 26th (7:30 pm), March 3rd (12 pm), March 10th (4:30 pm), March 17th (4:30 pm), and March 21st (6 pm). Learn more here and contact Nancy Gorod at nancy@parparjewisheducationgroup.com with any questions.
