Shai High is the next stage of learning for our high schoolers. This interactive series guides teens through the oftentimes arduous process of being a young Jewish adult. Through on-site learning, guest speakers, and local field trips, students in Shai High will explore the complexity of Jewish life through two distinct units.

The first half of the year will be an exploration of relationships as we grow.  As we say in our vision statement of Shearith Israel, “Relationships are at the center of everything we do.” Guided by Jewish texts, we will learn that healthy and consensual relationships, whether familial, friendly, or romantic, are essential for meaningful living through Judaism.. Ultimately, Jewish life revolves around relationships, including those with God, the world, history, ancestors, fellow individuals, and ourselves. 

In February, we will begin a six-week unit exploring the complex nature of antisemitism. Unfortunately, our lived experience being Jewish in the world will inescapably include encountering antisemitism. Learning about the historical expression of antisemitism and the ways our ancestors responded to antisemitism, guides  us in understanding, addressing, and countering antisemitism today. 

Enrollment is $360 for members and $425 for non-members. Includes the cost of dinner and field trip admissions.
