CSI Master Planning

After more than 40 years since the last meaningful changes to our campus, it’s time for an upgrade!

Based on the synagogue’s Strategic Plan, the Board authorized the creation of a master plan and formed a Master Planning Committee (MPC) which kicked off its work in late 2021.

A master plan provides an overarching vision for our synagogue’s physical campus. The approved master plan will be used to transform our existing infrastructure into a spiritual and cultural home that aligns with our community’s vision for the future. See renderings and learn more about the details of the project.

how did we get here?

After extensive research, the MPC enthusiastically and unanimously recommended, and the synagogue engaged, Lord Aeck Sargent (LAS), one of the leading planning firms in the country. In leading us through this process. LAS brought extensive planning experience working with a variety of religious, cultural, and educational institutions through their master planning process. Their team was comprised of planners, architects and landscape architects, enabling them to bring practical and visionary thinking to our entire campus.

Beginning in May 2022, with LAS’s guidance, we conducted visioning sessions with more than 100 congregants and hosted three town halls along with several smaller focus groups centered around education, youth and family, operations, spirituality and worship, and welcoming.

Those sessions and further analysis by the MPC culminated in the presentation of two plans to the Board of Trustees in October and November 2022, together with cost estimates. The Board approved a preferred plan in April 2023.

What's next?

The Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees is now at the early stages of understanding our community’s financial capacity to undertake this ambitious project. We will have more updates available about our timeline in Spring 2024.
