A Message to Parents

Dear Parent,

Thank you for your interest in Machaneh Shai, the education and family program at Congregation Shearith Israel, for the 2018-2019 academic year.  At Machaneh Shai, children in grades kindergarten through seven are engaged in exciting and meaningful learning activities, utilizing both formal and informal approaches to education.

Children learn about and interact with Jewish tradition and culture, Hebrew, prayer, Israel and more…all within a supportive and caring environment. We offer a full – range of family programs throughout the year as well. And, as a family – friendly synagogue, we offer a host of Shabbat programs in addition to our traditional service, including: a weekly Tot Shabbat service and Minyan Mercaz, a Family Service for school – age children and their parents filled with spirited singing and learning.

We are pleased to open up participation in Machaneh Shai to families who are looking for a great Jewish education program for their children (entering kindergarten through 4th grade), but who are not yet ready to officially join Shearith Israel at this time. We hope that with involvement in the education program at Machaneh Shai, and the connections that you and your family will foster with other families in the program, that you and your children will come to feel at home at Shearith Israel for this coming year and for many years to come.

As you fill out your application, please do not hesitate to be in touch with me at ngorod@shearithisrael.comwith any questions about Machaneh Shai or our program, or with Jacinta Cox at if you have specific questions about the application itself.

I look forward to meeting you and your family shortly.
