Pirkei Avot - 8th Grade Course
Pirkei Avot - 8th Grade Course
Pirkei Avot, translated as "Chapters of Our Ancestors", is a compilation of the ethical teachings and maxims from Rabbinic tradition. Teens will explore and study these ethical principles in chevruta (pairs) using The Illustrated Pirkei Avot text. The course is taught by Rabbi Kaiman.
Enduring Understanding:
We live within a framework of laws and values that were constructed thousands of years ago, and while sometimes adapted for contemporary times, our core Jewish values are based on the sayings and teaching of our Rabbis from the first millenium.
Essential Questions:
Where in our texts do our Jewish values originate?
How have we made the ethics of our ancestors, who wrote during early Rabbinic times, relevant to our lives today?
Stay tuned to enroll in the Pirkei Avot class for 2021 - 2022.
