sukkot 5785

The beloved fall festival of Sukkot begins on Wednesday evening, October 16th. Yom Tov services will be on Thursday (10/17) and Friday (10/18) mornings at 9am.

Celebrate here at CSI, enjoying services, meals and programming in the sukkah (details below), and shaking the lulav and etrog.

Shemini Atzeret begins Wednesday evening, October 23rd. Services on Thursday morning, October 24th include the Yizkor.

Simchat Torah begins Thursday evening October 24th with dinner, dancing (hakafot), and singing. We'll unroll the Torah scroll for all to see. Registration for the dinner will close on Wednesday, October 16th at 12 pm, but all are welcome to the celebration!

On Friday morning, October 25th, participate in our Simchat Torah tradition! Everyone present gets an aliyah to the Torah, we bless all the children, and then we begin the annual cycle of Torah reading anew!

order a lulav & etrog

Welcome the beautiful holiday of Sukkot with your own Lulav and Etrog set. On each day of the festival (except Shabbat), we take the Four Species: an etrog (citron), a lulav (palm frond), three hadassim (myrtle twigs) and two arevot (willow twigs), recite a blessing over them, bring them together in our hand and wave them in six directions: right, left, forward, backward, up and down. The Midrash tells us that the Four Species represent the various types and personalities that comprise the community of Israel; whose intrinsic unity we emphasize on Sukkot. The deadline to place an order is Friday, September 30th!
