K-12 Tutoring
K-12 Tutoring
The learning challenges brought on by the pandemic have created a huge need for tutors - both virtual and in person - to support Atlanta students’ academic needs. If you’re looking for a way to give back to the community in an ongoing way - check out the immediate needs below.
You don’t have to be a trained teacher - just a desire to work with kids. And Shearith Israel has partnered with established programs to match you with the necessary training to assist a student in need of academic support!
- Everybody Wins! Atlanta improves literacy for children through powerful mentor relationships. Volunteers are paired with a first through fifth-grade student and meet each week during the student's lunchtime for the entire school year to read to the student. There are virtual and in-person opportunities all over Atlanta.
- Through the Decatur Education Foundation Shearith Israel members are already working to tutor and support 2nd-8th grade students in Decatur area schools. This can be done virtually and there is presently a great need.
- Mind Bubble offers free tutoring and workshops for 4th - 10th grade students across the Atlanta area. The organization provides volunteer training and has virtual volunteer slots for students in grades 4-10, taking place on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
If you are interested in getting involved in one of the programs above or have any questions, please fill out the form below and we’ll be in touch.
